Coastline Building Design is a boutique design practice that specialise in residential developments. We provide bespoke building design and approval services to home owners, builders, developers and organisations.
Coastline Building Design provide a personal experience that explores your unique lifestyle. We work hard to determine the most cost-effective and practical solutions that are not only beautiful, but are functional and meet your specific requirements. We are committed to quality in building design with a custom design to suit your lifestyle and budget.
We assist you through navigating the (some times complex) approval process and facilitate in coordinating consultants and obtaining the appropriate approvals for your development. With extensive knowledge of local and state planning policies and building codes, our team can guide you through the Planning, Building Design and Approval process to ensure a streamlined and hassle free experience for you, our clients.
Building Design and drafting has been a family passion for more than 65 years, spanning three generations. Jennifer’s parents, Jan & John Rutty, managed a successful drafting business until their retirement in 2008. Jennifer's daughter Kirsty is part of the team at Coastline Building Design, continuing the family passion.
Our office is in Norah Head on the NSW Central Coast. We undertake projects across NSW, with majority of our work located on the NSW Central Coast, Hunter and Lake Macquarie areas.

PRINCIPAL

Chartered Member of BDA Australia, GreenSmart Accredited Professional.
Jenny began her career in at Jan & John Rutty Drafting working in the family business for more than 25 years before establishing Coastline Building Design in 2008. Jennifer holds her Architectural Draftsmans Certificate and is an Accredited Building Designer. She is a Chartered member of the Building Designers Association of Australia (BDAA). Jenny is the immediate past Chairperson for the Gosford/Wyong Chapter of the BDAA and is an accredited GreenSmart Professional. Jenny has 40 years' experience in the industry, has worked across all classes of buildings, and completed projects accross numerous LGA's.
Outside of running her own business, Jenny enjoys spending time with her family and pursuing her interests in Tennis, boating and photography. Jenny loves the coastal lifestyle and if your visiting Norah Head on a weekend, chances are you will see her out bike riding, out on the water or at the beach.

Kirsty began her career in structural drafting working in Sydney and joined Coastline Building Design’s team in late 2008. She completed her Diploma in Architectural Technology, graduating with Distinction in 2012. Kirsty has over 10 years’ experience in building design. Kirsty has since furthered her studies and knowledge by completing two Post Graduate degrees at WSU in 2017: Graduate Diploma in Bushfire Protection and Graduate Diploma Building Surveying. Kirsty graduated with Distinction from WSU in 2017.
When Kirsty isn't working she enjoys spending time with her family, enjoying a hit of tennis and volunteering as a Fire Fighter with the RFS. Kirsty has returned from Maternity leave, and enjoys spending weekends with her husband, son and chocolate Labrador, Cooper.
OUR HISTORY
Building Design and drafting has been a family passion for more than 40 years spanning three generations. Jennifer’s parents, Jan & John Rutty, ran a successful drafting business on the coast until their retirement in 2008. Jan & John Rutty Drafting Pty Ltd was established in Gorokan in 1972 and Jenny joined the family business in 1980. Jan & John Rutty Pty Ltd completed over 8000 projects on the Central Coast and surrounding areas over the 36 years of operation.
Following the retirement of Jan Rutty in 2008, Jenny established Coastline Building Design, with a new name and new location in Norah Head, still offering the same quality building design service. John continued to work with Jenny and in November 2008 Jenny’s daughter, Kirsty, joined the family business. John joined Jan in retirement in 2009. Sadly Jan & John have now both passed, but Jenny and Kirsty are still continuing the family passion of building design.
